Tummy Tuck

Before going forward with a tummy tuck (also known as abdominoplasty) you should ask yourself, "Why do I want to have this procedure?"  If you want it for yourself, to feel better about your shape, your ability to wear clothes, and to embrace an improved lifestyle, you are likely a good candidate for the procedure.  Do not do it for someone else.  People tend to not enjoy the results and the process involved when they are doing it strictly to make some else happy.

But if you are doing the surgery to make yourself happy, that is the first step to deciding you are a good candidate for the procedure.  A tummy tuck offers the right person some real benefits.  The midsection is tightened and usually winds up very flat.  Some or all abdominal stretch marks may be removed.  The procedure usually allows people to wear different size and style of clothes.  Even if it does not, it usually allows people to feel more comfortable in much of what they wear and activities they do.  In our experience, most people are delighted with the benefits to be had.

You should choose a surgeon who has a lot of experience with tummy tucks.  The procedure is very technique driven.  The details of the abdominoplasty should be customized for each patient.  The tummy tuck does have follow up care with your doctor, so make sure you are fully comfortable with the surgeon, the staff, and the facility.  Your procedure should be done in a certified surgery center.  You should have a nurse to take care of you before and after your surgery and an anesthesiologist caring for you as well as the surgeon.  Think about taking a tour of the surgery center before going forward.  Is this place a location with which I am comfortable?  Does it look solid, substantial, and safe?

Los Angeles Tummy Tuck Specialist

Tummy tucks may be combined with other procedures.  Sometimes liposuction is done on the thighs or other parts of the body.  Often work can be done on the breasts, either with an implant or a lift or reduction.  This combination is what we do with our Rodeo Drive Mommy Makeover.  With combined procedures it is especially important to have individualized treatment.  One size fits all does not yield the best results or the happiest patients.

Many people are having surgery following massive weight loss these days.  This can come after weight loss from any means, including diet and weight loss surgery.  In this situation, the abdomen is often the center of the action in terms of starting improvements to the body.  We often start here when we are providing care to this patient group.  Sometimes a panniculectomy, for large hanging skin and fat, should be done.  This is a somewhat modified procedure from the standard tummy tuck.

Our Beverly Hills plastic surgeon is very pleased to answer your questions about the procedure.  Our contact information is below.  We will take steps to help you feel comfortable and secure throughout this process.  We take you safety and comfort seriously, and you will be able to feel this right from the start.
